A Healthy Village offers quality, affordable recovery support housing for men and women overcoming unmanageability in their lives as a result of substance abuse. Located in the quiet a neighborhood of the Studio City  area called Toluca Lake and Valley Village, A Healthy Village offers a supportive environment where men and women who are proactive in their recovery can successfully transition back into a healthy and abundant life.

A Healthy Village welcomes a variety of approaches to recovery—spiritual community, 12-step fellowships, yoga, meditation, holistic, and therapeutic — recognizing that each persons journey of awakening and healing is a uniquely personal experience.

At A Healthy Village, we respect the individual, while fostering a nurturing community. We welcome men and women seeking to meet the challenges of life head on - clean, sober, fully present, conscious, and spiritually awakened.

We opened A Healthy Village to give back to our community , it came to us when we came back from India. We were both working in the corporate world and we felt overwhelmed by the dishonesty and the taking advantage of the public that these companies were having us do. It didn't jive with our morals or ethics.  It was told to us that if we find that we love doing all we have to do is find a way to make money with it and what we love doing is giving back to our community. This is how we started.

George has been sober since 1999 and in a meeting someone told him, "Your daughter will marry a man just like you" and that was NOT what he wanted and never drank again. Some times it's as easy as that but I can't tell you how much money he spent and jail time he did and nothing worked, just those few spoken words from a speaker. We treat everyone as a family member and not as a dollar amount. Your success is also ours.

We practice Buddhism not as a religion but as a way of life. It is to meditate, do good in the world, be positive because our thoughts become our reality. We live by the 5 precepts: 1. Do not kill or harm living things, 2. Not to take things that are not freely given, 3. Refain from sexual misconduct, 4. Not to tell lies or speak unkindly and 5. Not to drink alcohol or take drugs. Our lives have changed so much. Having less stuff, giving more and a different outlook on life has given us so much happiness that we'd like to share it with others.

Awaken – Enlighten -Enrich – Inspire “Lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu”, which means “May all beings everywhere be happy and free and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”
